Dispatch: Scheduled Utilisation
This article explains how System Operators can create and send dispatch instructions for scheduled utilisation.
To gain access to Scheduled Utilisation, please talk to your Piclo Account Manager.
1. Accessing the Operations Dashboard
- Log in as a System Operator.
- Navigate to the Operations section > Send dispatch instructions
From here, you can send a dispatch instruction based on the conditions outlined in your contract.
2. Choosing the Relevant Contract
- Select one of your existing contracts.
- Review the contract details to ensure it aligns with the dispatch timeframe you need. For example, if the contract is for “weekday evenings” between December 31 and March 1, any dispatch instruction must fall within those parameters.
- Select the contract you wish to use and proceed by clicking Next.
3. Filling Out Dispatch Details
On the next screen, you’ll input the details for the dispatch instruction:
- Date and time: Specify the start and end time for the dispatch. For example, you could schedule a dispatch for and evening in January 2025, from 7 PM to 8 PM.
- Dispatch capacity: Define the capacity required for this dispatch. The system will display the maximum capacity available for the selected contract. If full capacity is needed, input the maximum value.
- Once all details are entered, click Send to confirm the dispatch instruction. A success message will confirm it has been issued.
4. FSP Acknowledgement
Depending on market settings, FSPs are required to acknowledge dispatch instructions within the timeframe specified (e.g. 4 hours).
- FSPs will log in, navigate to Operations, and view their Upcoming Dispatches.
- They’ll see details such as:
- When the dispatch expires
- The direction of the dispatch
- The start and end times.
- The FSP must accept the dispatch to confirm compliance. Once accepted, the dispatch will appear in their Upcoming Dispatches list.
Key notes:
- Dispatch instructions must align with the contractual obligations you’ve agreed upon with FSPs.
- Once accepted, dispatches cannot be altered by the FSP.
- Stop instructions can be issued by the System Operator if required.
