October 2023: Release summary

We’re excited to share the product updates we’ve been working on over the past two months.

ENA Standardisation

Thanks to your collaboration, we’ve removed the need for a separate Pre-Qualification Questionnaire (PQQ), streamlining the process and making it easier for FSPs to qualify.

Confirm Entry for Competitions

Starting with the autumn tenders (excluding day-ahead and intraday competitions), FSPs are now required to confirm their entry into competitions. This additional step ensures that System Operators are aware of which FSPs are committed to participating, improving competition planning and management.

Improved FSP Experience

We’ve introduced several updates to enhance the FSP experience:

  • Asset Upload Improvements: FSPs can now download a subset of assets with errors, with duplicate references highlighted in red. This helps reduce issues during asset uploads.
  • Increased Dispatch Data Accuracy: Access more historical dispatch data via Piclo Data Hub, providing deeper insights for refining bidding strategies.
  • Operations Access: The Operations tab is now available for all FSPs, even if they’re not participating in LCM. This is particularly useful for managing settlements in long-term competitions.
  • Post-Tender Milestones: System Operators can now create contractual milestones for planned assets, which are visible to FSPs and linked to email reminders to keep milestones on track.
  • Improved Meter Data Upload: FSPs can now upload meter data in multiple files, and settlement reports include the meter data used for calculations.
  • Enhanced Navigation: We’ve optimised the platform’s navigation for screens of various sizes, ensuring a smooth and consistent user experience.

Exchange and Secondary Trading

  • Expanded Access: Secondary trading is now available to more FSPs, allowing participation in secondary trade Capacity Market agreements.
  • Streamlined Validation: FSPs can now apply directly to access the Capacity Market, improving the validation process while enhancing security.
  • Increased Visibility: The Piclo support team will now receive email notifications for each new listing or bid on the Exchange, enabling faster engagement with potential FSPs. Learn more about exchange

System Operator Improvements

Alongside the FSP updates, we’ve made several key improvements to enhance the experience for System Operators:

Contracted Download Enhancements

Contracted downloads now include additional columns, making it easier to relate contracts to Bid ID, Competition ID, and Competition Reference, simplifying contract management.

Repeat Competitions

We’ve improved the repeat competitions feature, allowing System Operators to select from thousands of previous competitions to streamline the setup process.

Company Qualification Page Stability

The CQ page will now load without timeouts, even when handling a large volume of applications, ensuring a stable and efficient experience.

Market Clearing Algorithm (MCA)

For day-ahead and intraday competitions, System Operators can now tweak MCA inputs without needing to re-enter them each time, improving workflow flexibility.

New Chart on Competition Bids Page

We’ve added a new chart to the competition bids page, displaying the proportion of approvals, giving you valuable insights into competition performance.

Area Upload Enhancements

System Operators can now upload KML and GeoJSON files as areas without needing to convert them, simplifying data management tasks.

Improved Area Name Handling

Longer area names will no longer cause errors during competition uploads. We’ve increased the character limit to 50 characters, ensuring smoother operations when naming areas.

Our commitment to continuous improvement drives Piclo forward, and we’re excited to expand these updates further in the future. If you have any questions or suggestions, please feel free to reach out—we value your feedback and appreciate your ongoing support.
